With this work I wish to bring to the foreground of attention the spiritual fulfillment which can be gained through the means of the strong bond created between the family members, a bond of deep love, which I have represented here with the help of a very compact form, void of any holes or spaces between the main shapes, which on the contrary appear to complete one another, giving the whole work a clear aspect of fullness, of a shape that has the potential of becoming whole.

The parents, the main characters of this given family, are briefly represented, using a very simplified form but at the same time they take up the majority of the volume of this sculpture, which is meant to represent the importance of their role, and not their physical appearance; made out of marble, the main material of this composition, representing at the same time the load bearing pillars and the creators of the family which is made possible by the means of their love and devotion, embrace protectively the smaller and weaker shape, as any parent is protecting his child, represented here with the help of the wood.

The gold leaf used in this work represents the constant love that binds the family members.

By “drastically” abstracting the shapes into a compact form, I wish to highlight that which matters most when it comes to family…LOVE, the love that makes possible for the members of the family to become as ONE.
